Some self-analysis...
Who I am, what I was, what I want to be.....
Kid - very friendly; moved a lot so had to make friends quickly.
Sister - probably not so good. I once told my brother (next to me in age)...don't ever think of acknowledging me at or during school. I will not admit to knowing you.
Student - Good, sometimes great, but mostly decent.
Girl Scout - Constant...was a GS for over 10 years, and the moving around made GS a predicable pattern.
Cheerleader - third try and then I was 'in' my senior year as President of the Pep Squad. Very risky. Very senior-itis. Too much freedom. Should re-think my answer as a 'student'.
Wife - Good; very supportive of my husband's dreams; wanted a life of my own and achieved that because of my husband. We were very good partners. I miss him.
Mother - Decent. My flying around the US made the job of mom and dad very interchangeable for Carl and me. Like my mom, I would stand up for my own kids, when they deserved it.
Parent - Good. It does take two parents (doesn't matter what kind). Both of us wanted to show the kids adventures, that would make a difference to them, and make them the best contributors to others and the world in general. Was adamant about chores. We had Sunday Night Cleaning as a family. The (adult) kids have made us very proud.
Mother-in-law - Gosh, I hope it's good. I enjoy being honest and kind with my kids' spouses. They are very special people: very talented and diverse.
Worker - Excellent. In every endeavor I've tried my best. If not, I'd move on and hopefully up (and that has been the case).
Pilot - I'm still alive. (I guess that's saying something.). I'm not current. Actually I think I was quite good, considering there were very few of us ladies doing the same jobs as the men, as we worked our way up the food chain. Then I moved on (see an earlier blog post about why).
Teacher -
Sunday School: I'm told I was responsive, often by the students (who are adults now).
Flight Instructor & Ground School Instructor - excellent. If I couldn't understand it, I really worked at it until I knew it and could explain it to all kinds of learners. I used to practice on Carl because we saw things so differently...but we'd often come up with the same (different approach) answers.
Real Estate Agent/Broker - Good. Love the people. Love the work. Love working primarily in the town I live in.
Volunteer - I treat it like work. It deserves my effort. I do not volunteer just to say I've been on boards.
Grandmother (Nana) - Hoping to be wonderful. Only time will tell. But I surely enjoyed my time meeting my grandson this week, and I appreciate everybody being patient with me and letting me hold Cadel while he was sleeping and/or screaming. A precious gift to all the family!
